QUEENS PARK RANGERS AWARDS £3.5 MILLION CATERING CONTRACT TO LINDLEY/HEATHCOTES
Coca-Cola Championship club Queens Park Rangers has kicked off the 2006/07 football season with the appointment of Lindley Catering/Heathcotes Outside, the UK's leading sports stadia catering business, to provide both public concourse and corporate hospitality catering at their West London Loftus Road ground.
The five year, £3.5 million agreement will see Lindley/Heathcotes providing a complete match day catering service for up to 20,000 football fans and 300 VIP visitors in the club's 30 corporate hospitality boxes, as well as the Trophy Room guest lounge and the Patron's and Chairman's Suites hospitality facilities.
QPR has decided to move from in-house to concession catering as a key component of its plans to develop the club's food service offering and expand the useage of the club's facilities outside match days for other events such as private parties, conferences, wedding receptions and business seminars.
Commenting on the appointment, Gary Hooper, QPR's Commercial Director, says: "Lindley Catering's track record from working with a number of premiership football clubs speaks for itself and their experience in football stadia was a key factor in our decision to award the contract to them. We are confident that they have the expertise to ensure that QPR's supporters receive the highest standards of service and quality of food whether they are grabbing a quick bite to eat at one of the bars on the public concourse or enjoying corporate hospitality in one of our guest suites or private boxes.
"Lindley/Heathcotes' professional approach will help QPR improve the service efficiency of its catering operation, enabling the club to expand the range and quality of food it offers and increase the sales revenue we generate from catering to re-invest back into the team."
Alex McCrindle, Chief Executive of Lindley/Heathcotes, says: "We're looking forward to having the opportunity of working with QPR to develop all aspects of their catering offering. Appointing us as the sole catering contractor enables us to take a holistic approach to the food service side of their business - from providing a wider choice of food and speedier service through their public bars and stands, through to creating innovative menus to build the club's reputation for providing first class hospitality and a fine dining experience."
Lindley/Heathcotes will supply around 150 casual workers in addition to three/four full-time staff to manage the catering at Loftus Road.
The addition of QPR to their portfolio of clients brings the number of major UK football clubs serviced by Lindley Catering/Heathcotes to 47, including Premiership clubs such as Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Sheffield United and Liverpool.
The QPR deal comes within weeks of Lindley/Heathcotes being awarded the £1 million-plus contract to provide fine dining and corporate hospitality catering at Hereford Racecourse from this autumn.
