LINDLEY STRENTHENS SCOTTISH PRESENCE WITH ST JOHNSTONE SIGNING AND RENEWAL OF HIBS AND CELTIC CONTRACTS
Lindley Group, the UK's leading sports stadia caterer, has got the new football season off to a flying start having been awarded a three year contract to provide catering in the public sector at St Johnstone's, McDiarmid Park ground in Perth.
The contract with the Irn-Bru Scottish Football League Championship First Division team will add weight to Lindley's presence in Scotland which has also been reinforced through Scottish Premier League teams Hibernian FC and Celtic FC agreeing to renew their existing stadia catering contracts with Lindley Group - both with five year deals. Last season Lindley also picked up the contract for stadia catering at Motherwell FC's Fir Park ground. Lindley also has established catering contracts with Dundee FC and Livingston FC.
Lindley Group won the £300,000 contract with St Johnstone after the club put the public catering contract for its 10,700 seated stadium out to tender. Under the arrangement Lindley will provide match day catering at the club's 10 kiosks at the ground. St Johnstone will continue manage the corporate hospitality in-house.
Lindley will provide a part-time manager at McDiarmid Park who will manage 30 part-time casual staff.
Stewart Duff, Chief Executive Officer at St Johnstone FC, says: "We're delighted to welcome Lindley Group on board. They have an excellent track record in football stadia catering and I'm confident that the quality of food and service they provide will prove to be a big hit with our fans."
The new five-year £3.5 million stadia catering contract for with Hibernian FC will run through to the 2013-2014 season, while the £9 million arrangement with Celtic FC will extend to 2015 with the club having taken the decision to renew their agreement with Lindley Group a season before the current contract expires. Lindley is now in its eighth season of managing the public sector catering at Hibs' Easter Road, Edinburgh ground and the company has held the contract for concourse and kiosk catering at Glasgow's Celtic Park since 2004.
Part of Lindley Group's remit at both clubs is to establish ‘healthier eating' options and menus at the two Scottish Premier League's grounds as part of the Scottish Government's Healthier Scotland campaign.
Paul Biffen, Lindley Group's Sales & Marketing Director, says: "We've been keen to expand our business in Scotland and with the addition of St Johnstone following the Motherwell contract last season, and the renewal of the contracts at Hibs and Celtic we've really started to gather some momentum. It's also been real boost to have Celtic commit to another five year contract a year ahead of schedule, which I believe speaks volumes for how the club views the service we provide.
"In line with the Scottish Government's Healthier Scotland campaign, many clubs are looking to provide healthier menu options and we are working these clubs to offer a number of alternatives to the burgers, hot dogs and Scotch pies so popular with Scottish fans. At grounds where the healthier options have been introduced, they are selling quite well."
